Best Brokers for Snapback Pro EA: Hedging, Spread, Swap – and the Broker of Our Tests

Last updated: 19 October 2026

This page also contains partner links to brokers; we receive commissions for them.

Snapback Pro EA waits until price runs far beyond the previous day's range, enters against that stretch on the first pullback and works the trade as a linear grid until the whole basket closes in profit with a trailing stop. One EA on one chart trades up to 20 pairs, at most 5 of them at risk at the same time. For the broker that means: milliseconds matter less than the cost of many small positions on cross pairs – and an account that allows baskets in the first place.

What a Snapback basket costs

A basket consists of several positions starting at 0.01 lot that grow linearly over time. Each of them pays:

  • the spread on entry and exit,
  • a commission per lot on raw or ECN accounts,
  • swap for every night the basket stays open.

The basket is closed with a trailing stop that, at default values, starts at 25 pips of profit and keeps a 5-pip distance. At distances like these, one pip more or less of spread is not a detail.

What to check before you choose

1. Hedging account

Snapback holds a basket of several positions per pair and runs buy and sell baskets separately. For that it needs a hedging account; a netting account merges all trades of a symbol into one position, and the EA runs in a reduced mode only. The guide MT4 vs MT5 for algo trading explains the two modes.

2. Spread on the pairs of your set

The set files trade GBPCAD, CADJPY and NZDUSD (3 pairs), plus NZDCAD and USDCAD (5 pairs) and NZDCHF and EURCHF (7 pairs). These are mostly cross pairs whose spread varies a lot by broker and time of day. The advertised "from" spread on EUR/USD says little about them. How to check your broker:

  • Watch the spread of your set's pairs in the MT5 Market Watch over a few days – including at night and around the daily rollover.
  • Run the set in the Strategy Tester on your broker's data with every tick based on real ticks. That model uses the broker's recorded spreads.
  • Set the entry spread limit ("Max spread for entries") to suit your broker's spreads.

3. Swap on open baskets

A basket can stay open overnight and for several days, and every position in it books swap. Snapback's three drawdown methods count profit plus swap by default. Swap rates are not in our fact boxes because they change with interest rates and differ by symbol and account – you can see them in the MT5 symbol properties (Market Watch → right-click → Specification).

4. Commission

On raw and ECN accounts you pay a commission per lot on top of the spread. Snapback estimates the exit commission from the entry commission (input "Estimated exit commission"), so the basket stop accounts for costs. Check your account's commission in the broker's conditions.

5. Volume step, margin and stop-out level

The sets start at 0.01 lot; your account's minimum lot and volume step have to allow that. A full basket on several pairs ties up margin. How much depends on leverage and account terms; the margin level at which the broker force-closes positions (stop out) is stated there as well. The sets' capital recommendations apply to the conditions we tested under.

6. Symbol names and Sunday candles

  • Symbol suffix: if the pairs are called e.g. "GBPCAD.r" at your broker, enter the suffix in the portfolio part under "broker symbol suffix".
  • Sunday candles: Snapback builds its levels from the previous day's range. Some brokers show a short daily candle of its own on Sunday; the input "Ignore Sunday D1 bars" (on by default) skips it as the previous day.

7. What you do not need

  • No colocation. By default Snapback checks entries and the grid on a new bar only; that is not latency-critical. A terminal that stays reliably online around the clock matters more.

How to test your own broker

  1. Get Snapback Pro EA from the MQL5 product page and the set file for your account size from the comments section.
  2. Strategy Tester: CADJPY M15 as the chart, every tick based on real ticks, the set with the recommended capital, as far back as your broker's data goes.
  3. Compare net result, maximum drawdown and profit factor with the table above. If the drawdown is clearly higher, look at the pairs' spreads and swap first.
  4. Then a few weeks on a demo account at that broker, only then live. Why one does not replace the other is explained in backtesting and forward testing.

If you are still choosing a broker, our lowest-spread broker comparison is a starting point – keep in mind that it compares EUR/USD and gold costs, not the cross pairs of the sets. Where a broker's trading servers sit is listed under broker server locations.

Bottom line

For Snapback Pro EA, what matters is a hedging account, low spreads on the cross pairs of your set, swap on open baskets and an account that allows 0.01 lot and enough margin for up to 5 baskets. Our backtests ran on RoboForex ECN; for other brokers, check spreads and swap yourself and run the set on your broker's real ticks before you go live.

Snapback is a grid EA without a stop loss per position; the set files use no equity stop. Backtests are simulations; past results do not guarantee future results. Trading forex and CFDs on margin carries a high risk of loss.

Frequently asked questions

Which broker was Snapback Pro EA tested on?

All backtests of the set files ran in the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester with real ticks on RoboForex data (ECN account), from 01.01.2025 to 09.10.2026. We have not tested the sets on other brokers yet. Run the set in your own Strategy Tester on your broker's data before you decide.

Do I need a hedging account?

Yes. Snapback holds a basket of several positions per pair and can run buy and sell baskets separately. On a netting account it runs in a reduced mode only.

Why do spreads matter so much?

Because a grid opens many positions and the basket is closed with a trailing stop only a few pips wide. Every pip of spread is paid on every position. The sets trade cross pairs such as GBPCAD, CADJPY, NZDCAD or NZDCHF, whose spreads differ a lot between brokers. The EA has a spread limit for entries.

Does swap matter?

Yes. A basket can stay open overnight and for several days, and every position in it pays or earns swap. By default the drawdown methods count profit plus swap. You can see swap rates in the MT5 symbol properties.

My broker's symbols carry a suffix, such as EURUSD.r – does that work?

Yes. In the portfolio part of the inputs, enter the suffix under "broker symbol suffix"; it is added to every pair of the set.

How much leverage do I need?

Enough that a full basket on up to 5 pairs does not hit the margin limit. The sets' capital recommendations (2,500 or 5,000 USD at a 0.01 start lot) come from tests on a RoboForex ECN account; check the margin requirement and stop-out level of your account in the broker's account terms.
