Overview

Admirals — known as Admiral Markets until 2021 — was founded in Tallinn in 2003 and is one of the older European CFD brokers with a clear MetaTrader focus. Traders in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland are served by Admirals Europe Ltd, based in Limassol. There are essentially two CFD account models: Trade.MT5 (over 2,400 CFDs, spreads from 0.5 pips, commission-free on FX) and Zero.MT5 (over 90 CFDs on forex, metals, cash indices, and energies, spreads from 0.0 pips plus commission). Both are also available as MT4 variants. For EA traders, only the Zero account is realistically of interest.

Regulation & Safety

DACH clients are onboarded by Admirals Europe Ltd, authorised by CySEC (licence 201/13) and passporting its services across the EU. Client funds are held segregated at EU banks. On top of that come the Cypriot Investor Compensation Fund (up to 20,000 EUR) and additional insurance up to 100,000 EUR, which Admirals has carried for clients of the Europe entity since 2021. Retail clients get full negative balance protection.

At group level there is also an FCA licence (Admiral Markets UK Ltd, FRN 595450), plus licences from the FSCA (South Africa) and the FSA (Seychelles). Under our rubric that is two top-tier regulators plus offshore, so 4.3. The FCA licence does not directly benefit EU clients, though. For them, only CySEC counts. The group is also restructuring: the Australian subsidiary was sold in 2025, the Estonian licence was surrendered at the company's own request in April 2026, and losses were reported for 2024 and 2025. According to Wikipedia, Admirals temporarily paused EU client onboarding in 2024 over regulatory issues with CySEC. That is not a red flag in the narrow sense, but it belongs in an honest assessment.

Costs

On Zero.MT5, forex and metals carry a volume-tiered commission per lot and side: on a USD account 3.0 USD up to 10M USD monthly volume, 2.4 USD up to 50M, and 1.8 USD above that. On a EUR account it is 2.6 / 2.1 / 1.6 EUR. At normal retail volumes that means 6 USD or 5.20 EUR round-turn on raw spreads from 0.0 pips. Under our rubric that sits in the 5–6 USD band (4.4–4.6). We deduct 0.1 for documented side costs: only one withdrawal per month and payment method is free, and after 24 months without a trade an inactivity fee of 10 EUR per month applies. Result: 4.4. The Trade.MT5 account is commission-free on FX but starts at 0.5 pips, which makes it the more expensive choice for active EAs.

Execution

According to the Admirals Europe Ltd order execution policy (valid as of 11.12.2025), the company receives client orders and transmits them to group-owned execution venues (including Admiral Markets UK Ltd and Admiral Markets AS), which source prices from multiple liquidity providers. Admirals itself states that 90% of trades are executed within 150 milliseconds. That is the broker's own figure and has not been independently verified. There is no ECN access with a disclosed trade-server location. Equinix is only mentioned in connection with the VPS. Under our rubric ("STP/hybrid, server location unclear") we award 3.9.

EA & Algo Suitability

Admirals is a pure MetaTrader broker, and it shows: MT4 and MT5 are both available, plus the free MetaTrader Supreme Edition with mini terminal, trade terminal, tick chart trader, and trading simulator. Expert Advisors and custom indicators are explicitly supported, and hedging is allowed (swaps are charged on both sides). We found no scalping restriction in the public documentation. The free VPS in Equinix data centres is available from 5,000 EUR in equity on the live account. That is a noticeable but not unusual threshold. There is no cTrader. If you would rather run your EA on your own server, our VPS guide for EAs covers the alternatives. Unrestricted MT4/MT5 use plus a conditional VPS gives 4.3.

Conditions, Deposits & Support

The minimum deposit is 100 EUR. Accounts are available in EUR, USD, GBP, CHF, and others. Retail clients trade under ESMA rules with a maximum of 1:30 on major FX pairs, professional clients with up to 1:500. With up to three trading accounts per client, two account models, and over 2,400 CFDs, the offering is broad (4.4).

Deposits by bank wire, Visa/Mastercard, Klarna, Skrill, or Brite are free. Withdrawals are free once per month and payment method. After that, a bank wire costs 1 EUR and a card or Skrill withdrawal 1% (min. 1 EUR). Processing runs on business days until 18:00 Eastern European Time. Germany has its own support number in Berlin with German-language service. Because of the withdrawal fees from the second withdrawal onwards, we award 4.2 rather than a top score.

Verdict

Admirals is a solid, low-cost choice for MetaTrader EAs: 6 USD round-turn on Zero.MT5, MT4 and MT5 plus the Supreme Edition, a free VPS from 5,000 EUR, and a low entry barrier. Deductions come from CySEC-only coverage for EU clients, the hybrid execution model without disclosed server infrastructure, the small instrument range on the Zero account, and the turbulent group situation. The weighted overall score is 4.2. If you mainly want the tightest raw spreads and cTrader, compare the ECN brokers for EAs. For the overall ranking, see our comparison of the best EA brokers.
