Trading software, tested in use.

Trackers, backtest tools and VPS managers for MetaTrader: what they do, where they fall short and what they cost. We describe and test software with real screenshots; we do not grade it.

More tools in the queue

These categories are next. A report appears only after we have used the tool ourselves; until then there is no verdict here.

Third-party account tracking
Myfxbook, FX Blue and the statistics inside MetaTrader itself, measured against the same questions as the Account Tracker.
Backtest analysis
Tools that read Strategy Tester reports, combine portfolios and test robustness, such as QuantAnalyzer or StrategyQuant X.
Tick data and testers
Historical data for real-tick backtests and simulators for manual practice.
Trade copiers
Local and cloud copiers that mirror trades between accounts and brokers, with an eye on latency and outages.

Method

How we test software

  1. 1

    Used ourselves

We test in a real account with real data, not in a demo the vendor prepared.

  2. 2

    Seen and claimed kept apart

What we saw in the software is kept apart from what the product page promises. What we could not check, we say.

  3. 3

    Screenshots edited

Every screenshot is real; amounts, account numbers and names are masked. Numbers drawn on the image are explained below it.

  4. 4

    Interests disclosed

If the vendor is our partner, the report says so at the top. Partner links are marked as ads.

How we grade EAs, brokers and prop firms is explained in our methodology.

Questions about the trading software section

Why do tools get no grade here?

Because how useful software is depends heavily on how you trade. Instead of a number we show strengths, weaknesses, prices and alternatives so you can weigh them yourself. That applies to partner software and to third-party software alike.

Does AlgoVerdict earn from the tools shown?

For the Algo Trading Space tools, yes: ATS is our partner, and the operator of AlgoVerdict is connected to ATS. Every report says so at the top in a disclosure box. Links to the vendor are marked as ads.

Are the figures in the screenshots real?

The screenshots come from a real account. All amounts, percentages, account numbers, names and servers were replaced with sample values before saving. No return can be read from the images.

Where are the free AlgoVerdict calculators?

Under calculators and portfolio analysis. They are our own tools and therefore not part of this review list.
