Short verdict
Gold X9 is cheap, well explained and at first sight a bargain for anyone who finds The Gold Reaper too expensive at $949. On our trading data it really does trade in a similar way. What it lacks is evidence: no vendor live signal, only four weeks on two real-money accounts of our own that are slightly down combined, and a long loss tail, because the stop sits almost three times as far away as the target. At 3.1 out of 5 it sits on yellow under our methodology, just above the line to red. That means: with reservations, and until there is more data, only small and with a hard equity stop.
Who sells Gold X9
Gold X9 comes from Mr CapFree, a YouTuber who explains MQL5 code in his videos and sells EAs. It is not sold on the MQL5 Market but through his own shop on Fourthwall (“No Shenanigans”). There Gold X9 costs $69.99 one-off, delivered as an executable ex5 file “with no licence required”, so it is not bound to an account or a machine. A free demo version allows backtests with your own broker data.
The shop files Gold X9 under the EAs the vendor coded himself. Next to it is a collection called “Famous EAs from Internet”, where the vendor offers his own implementations of well-known EAs, for example an “interpretation” of the Waka Waka EA based on a YouTube video. That is not an accusation but context: by his own account, the vendor also rebuilds strategies he has seen in public.
Gold X9 was launched in a video on 8 August 2026. In it the vendor says the EA has been running in his own portfolio for over three years and that nine out of hundreds of ideas survived. There is no account that shows those three years. A viewer asked in the comments for a verified Myfxbook or FX Blue track over six to twelve months. By 5 October the vendor had not linked a verifiable account. Instead, on 1 October, at the start of a build video, he showed screen recordings of his forward accounts since August, among them a $10,000 account on the “High Risk” profile which by his account stood at 42% profit with a 15% drawdown. That cannot be checked; under our methodology recordings like these do not count as evidence.
Strategy: what the vendor says and what we measure
According to the vendor, Gold X9 trades breakouts of previous swing highs and lows on several timeframes, with stop orders placed just ahead of the high or low. Each of the nine sub-strategies sets a stop-loss and a take profit at entry, trails both and has a breakeven. The EA calculates all distances as a percentage of the gold price. In a build video of 1 October the vendor shows the code of strategy 9: stop-loss at 2% of the price (around $86 at $4,300), take profit at 0.7%. The sub-strategies can be switched on and off individually; out of the box the risk profile is set to “Very High Risk”. On top come prop-firm limits for daily and overall drawdown, a news filter based on the MT5 calendar and a “trade randomizer” so that not every user gets identical trades. He explicitly denies martingale.
Our data comes from the tracker fingerprint of our first live account (the second does not have enough trades yet). It separates one EA's trades from the other EAs on the same account by magic number and order comment. What it shows:
- Nine sub-strategies, each with its own magic number and the comment “Gold X9 by MrCapFree_XAUUSD_1” to “_9”.
- Short holding time of about an hour and a half on average, just under two trades a day, win rate 75%.
- Constant lot size of 0.01, no lot escalation. That argues against martingale.
- Basket closes on just under 14% of trades: several positions were closed together in the same second. From 10% the tracker classifies this as a grid, which is why we list Gold X9 as “breakout, grid”. There is a more harmless explanation too: if several sub-strategies enter on the same breakout, they can exit together at the same price target. With 36 trades we cannot tell the two apart; the classification is provisional.
- No fixed stop in pips: losses vary widely in size. That fits the design: a stop set as a percentage of price, trailing and breakeven produce many small losses and the occasional full stop.
- Long loss tail: the largest loss was about 40 times the typical loss. For The Gold Reaper that figure is around 6. A stop almost three times as far away as the target explains it: when it is hit, it costs as much as several wins.
Similar to The Gold Reaper
A viewer already wrote under the video that Gold X9 looked like a step up from The Gold Reaper. Our data supports the impression of a similar trading pattern: both trade gold only, both consist of several sub-strategies (eight for The Gold Reaper, nine for Gold X9) with the same comment scheme “Name_XAUUSD_number”, both hold trades for about an hour and a half on average, and their magic numbers follow the same spacing pattern. On most days on which both traded, they ended with the same sign.
Whether Gold X9 builds on The Gold Reaper, recreates it, or whether both go back to a common pattern cannot be established from trading data. So we only state what we measure. We also measured the differences: a different session split, more basket closes, a much longer loss tail and occasional opposite positions. Everything else is in the detailed Gold X9 vs. The Gold Reaper comparison.
Our live data
We run Gold X9 on two real-money accounts of our own at Vantage, both at 0.01 lot. The first live account (••9898) ran from 8 to 28 September and was a shared account: Quantum Queen and Onyx ran on it too. The figures cover Gold X9's trades only; the worst figure of the whole account comes mostly from the other EAs and cannot be attributed to Gold X9. We stopped it on 28 September. Since 30 September Gold X9 has been running alone on the second live account (••8873). In the tracker this account was at first tagged “demo”; that was wrong, it is a real-money account.

Cumulative closed P/L since 08 September 2026, as % of deposit
Cumulative closed P/L since 08 September 2026, in USD
On 7 days both EAs closed trades, on 6 of them with the same sign (both up or both down). With this few days it is a hint, not a reliable correlation.
- The accounts differ in size and run time. That is why we show the curve twice: as a percentage of the deposit (comparable) and in USD (what was actually made or lost).
- The curves start at the shared start, the first trading day of the younger EA. The figures since each account’s own start are in the table.
- Closed trades only, no open positions. A grid-like EA can sit considerably deeper in the red in between than the curve shows.
- On a shared account the percentages refer to the deposit of the whole account.

How we read the figures: on the first account Gold X9 made money over three weeks, but on the way it temporarily gave back 25% of the account deposit. On the second account a single day, 2 October, on which several sub-strategies lost at once accounts for most of the loss. Both accounts together come to 61 trades and −$59.08. Not enough for a verdict on the strategy, but enough for one on the evidence: it is thin.
Risks
- Grid character: basket closes and occasional opposite positions (just under 6% of trades) mean Gold X9 at times holds several positions against the market. On gold, which can run several dollars in one go on a news day, that is the classic route to large single losses. More in the guide to grid and martingale EAs.
- Wide stop, tight target: a stop at 2% of the gold price against a 0.7% target means one full stop eats the gains of several good trades. When several sub-strategies hit their stops on the same day, as on 2 October on our second live account, it adds up quickly.
- Aggressive default: out of the box the risk profile is “Very High Risk” and the lot size is derived from a 30% allowed total drawdown. If you test Gold X9, turn the profile down and set a hard equity stop.
- Moving in step with other gold EAs: if you already run The Gold Reaper or another gold breakout, on our data Gold X9 is largely the same bet. See EA portfolio management.
- No licence binding, no platform oversight: an unprotected ex5 file is convenient, but there is no body like the MQL5 Market that handles reviews, updates and refunds.
Price and value
$69.99 is little for a gold EA, and the free demo for backtests comes on top. For the price you get a properly built EA with prop-firm features. What you do not get is proof that it holds up live over time. With The Gold Reaper you pay a good 13 times as much and get almost two years of public live signal for it. So Gold X9 is only cheap if you are willing to supply the missing evidence yourself and budget the test money for it.
Who it is (not) for
Suitable for traders who like to test themselves, run the demo version through the strategy tester with their own broker data and then want to watch the EA on a small, separate account with a hard equity stop.
Not suitable for anyone who needs an evidenced track record, for prop-firm challenges without your own protection, and as a second gold EA next to The Gold Reaper.
Verdict
Gold X9 is not a bad joke but a seriously built EA at a very low price, and on our data it trades much like the expensive Gold Reaper. That alone does not make it equivalent. The Gold Reaper has almost two years of public live signal; Gold X9 has a video and four weeks on two of our real-money accounts, slightly down combined. We keep it running and update the live comparison weekly. Until there is more data, it stays on yellow with reservations.
