What The Gold Reaper Is
The Gold Reaper by Profalgo Limited (MQL5 market, $849) is the top-rated gold EA in our EA Radar — 🟢 76/100 in the scout audit. Unlike most gold bestsellers it does not use a grid or martingale: it trades breakouts at support/resistance zones with a real stop-loss. That alone puts it in a different risk class than Quantum Queen & co.
The Verified Numbers
We independently re-checked the public live signal (running since February 2024) on 02 Jul 2026 — the figures match the display 1:1:
- +271% total return in 20 months
- 16.9% maximum drawdown — remarkably flat for a gold EA
- Profit factor 2.38 · win rate 72%
- ~46 copiers with ~$164,000 on the signal
Add something we rarely see from vendors: Profalgo's product page itself discloses ~30% possible drawdown — i.e. more than has occurred live so far. That kind of honesty (plus a public set file, directly reproducible in the MT5 tester) earns the EA our best transparency mark in the gold segment.
Why “Watch” Rather Than “Buy”
Three reasons keep us from a top rating.
1. Concentrated growth. Roughly 80% of the total return was generated within a ~29-day window — presumably the big gold trend legs. If you start today, expect the everyday version (unspectacular months, occasional losing phases), not the average curve. That is not fraud, but it is the classic expectation error when reading signals.
2. Copy slippage. The community repeatedly reports that signal copiers get materially worse fills on fast gold moves than the master account. Running the EA yourself (rather than copying) partly avoids this — but then you need a broker with tight gold spreads and low latency: see our EA broker comparison and VPS for EAs.
3. Gold concentration risk. The EA is 100% XAUUSD. If you already run gold EAs (including this vendor's own Gold Trade Pro and bundles), you are stacking the same bet: in a sharp gold regime change, all of these systems correlate. One gold EA per portfolio — not three. Our guide on correlation & combined drawdown does the maths.
Who It Is (Not) For
Suitable for traders who deliberately want gold exposure via a stop-loss-based approach, run the EA themselves (not as a copy) on a raw-spread broker, and budget it as one building block.
Not suitable if other gold systems are already running, for signal copiers with high return expectations (slippage!), and for anyone extrapolating the 271% linearly into the future.
Verdict
At 3.8/5, The Gold Reaper is our highest-rated EA so far — verified track record, clean risk DNA, honest vendor, fair price. The deductions are structural: concentrated growth, copy slippage, and the unavoidable gold concentration risk. Which is exactly why our recommendation reads “watch / deploy in measured size” — being the best gold EA doesn't mean you need several of them.
