Dark Gold is a $199 gold EA that enters at support and resistance on H1 — with grid and martingale recovery by default, switchable to fixed lots. Its only ATS account (funded, MyFX) shows 237 days, 2,462 trades and only 8.7% floating loss, but also only +9.4% at PF 1.19. Cheap and calmly measured, yet the evidence is thinner than the product page suggests.

ATS product page, read 30.09.2026
  • Inexpensive gold EA: $199 one-time
  • 2,462 trades in 237 days on a $10,000 funded account, max floating loss only -8.7%
  • Grid and martingale can be switched off — the EA then trades fixed lots
  • Full parameter control: lot progression, entry sensitivity, grid spacing, max trades
  • Grid + martingale by default — change nothing and you have bought a recovery system
  • Thin edge: PF 1.19, +0.8% a month
  • No real-money live account, only two funded accounts; the ATS page header says “In-house data not available” although an account is listed
  • The product page contains text blocks that belong to another EA — read the description with care

Drawdown profile

How deep did this EA go under water? We deliberately plot drawdown and not an equity curve: a backtest curve always ends in the top right, but drawdown decides whether an account survives. Every bar comes from a real account, none from a backtest.

How the strategy trades

A schematic simulation of the strategy type we assign Dark Gold EA to — not a replica of this EA and not real price data.

Realised

How it works

  1. As with the grid, a position is added every 20 pips – but with a ×2 multiplier: 0.10 → 0.20 → 0.40 → 0.80 lots.
  2. The big positions drag the average down, close to the lowest entry.
  3. That is why a small bounce is already enough to profit. The catch: volume doubles at every level and the floating loss grows even faster – one level too many, and a single basket wipes out the gains of many before it.

What we check

What we check on real martingale EAs: the multiplier, the maximum number of levels and the volume at the last level relative to the account. A smooth equity curve is not a quality signal here.

Demonstration values: a simulated EURUSD path with 0.10 lots and $10,000 starting capital, deliberately favourable – every basket and every trend works out here. Not a real trading strategy, not a backtest and not investment advice.

Verified live / funded accounts

Real accounts AlgoTradingSpace publicly links for this EA (Myfxbook-fed). Max floating loss is the most honest risk figure — how deep open positions ran into the red at their worst.

What Dark Gold Is

Dark Gold by Dark EAs is a gold EA for XAUUSD on H1. It looks for entries at self-computed support and resistance zones in the trend direction. By default a grid with martingale position sizing is switched on to absorb pullbacks; per the product description it can be turned off, in which case the EA trades fixed lots. AlgoTradingSpace sells it for $199 one-time (ATS product page) and lists it as a trend-following EA.

Read the product page with care: it contains several sections that plainly belong to another product (scalping on EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDJPY and a “price under $100”). We therefore rely only on the core description and the account.

The Live Data

ATS lists one account: a funded account at MyFX Markets over $10,000, as of 30.09.2026:

  • +9.4% in 237 days, +0.8% a month on average
  • Profit factor 1.19 on 2,462 trades
  • Max floating loss -8.7%

The trade count is high and the open loss small — a sign that the account runs a cautious grid setting. The flip side: the return is low, and a profit factor of 1.19 leaves little buffer for worse gold spreads. ATS publishes no real-money live account for Dark Gold, and the page header says “In-house data not available” even though the funded account is listed below it.

We track a second account ourselves (iFunds): 277 days, profit factor 2.19, +2.51% a month on average at only 2.36% own drawdown (Waterline fingerprint, as of 22.09.2026). That is clearly better than the ATS account and supports the calm risk measurement — but it does not replace a real-money live account.

Strategy & Risk

Under our methodology the measured drawdown would give 4.3. We set 3.4 because the default setting uses martingale — and a basket with lot increases on gold reacts differently in a fast trend than in the 237 measured days. If you buy Dark Gold, run the fixed-lot variant on a demo account first. Gold EAs correlate strongly with each other; more in the best gold EA guide.

Who It Is (Not) For

Suitable for price-conscious traders looking for a gold EA with adjustable risk logic who deliberately cap or disable the grid/martingale steps.

Not suitable as a second gold EA next to an existing one, for traders who run default settings unchanged, and for anyone expecting high monthly returns.

Verdict

3.8/5: inexpensive, calmly measured on two funded accounts and flexibly configurable. The deductions come from the martingale default, the thin edge on the ATS account and the missing real-money live account.

Frequently asked questions

Which markets does Dark Gold EA trade?

XAUUSD. Mind the symbol: brokers name commodities differently (XAUUSD, GOLD, XTIUSD, USOIL and so on). Checking Market Watch before attaching the EA avoids the most common setup mistake.

Which platform does Dark Gold EA run on?

MT4/MT5. Continuous operation needs a VPS, because a sleeping machine leaves open positions unattended: VPS providers compared.

What does Dark Gold EA cost?

$199 (as of our last check). We take prices from the vendor, ATS or MQL5 product page, not from marketing copy — that often quotes different figures than the buy button.

How large is Dark Gold EA's drawdown?

Across the accounts we see for this EA the largest decline is 2.4% — measured on our own account, counting only this EA's trades. That is the figure to size positions against, not the calm average. Where we hold further accounts or a longer vendor track, their numbers are above in the review: position sizing and risk per trade.

Does Dark Gold EA use grid or martingale?

Yes — the design is Trend-Following + Grid + Martingale. That means further orders are added when price runs against an open position, and there is usually no hard per-trade stop-loss. Such systems stay quiet for a long time and then take the loss all at once. How that works and how to spot the dangerous variant is in our guide to grid and martingale EAs.

Is Dark Gold EA any good?

Our grade: 3.8 out of 5, traffic light green — usable. It comes from six criteria, weighted most heavily towards the verified live track record and strategy risk. We rate from real accounts, not vendor backtests, and no EA vendor pays for ratings — the weighting is public in our methodology.

Is there a verified live track for Dark Gold EA?

Yes. We run this EA ourselves and measure its trades in isolation (410 days). The figures in this review come from those accounts, not from vendor backtests.
